Use of the computers at the Show Low Public Library, including the Computer Lab, is a privilege provided free of charge, except for printing costs as posted.  All users of these online resources are expected to use them appropriately, only for legal purposes, and in compliance with Show Low Public Library Internet Use Policies, summarized as follows.

Because these computers are shared by users of many different ages and backgrounds in an open public area, all users are asked to consider this when accessing potentially controversial information and images over the Internet.  You are expected to not disturb or offend others by your behavior or use of these computers.

Internet access on these computers is restricted by technology protection measures (filtering software), in compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) [Pub. L. No. 106-554 and 47 USC 254(h)] and Arizona Revised Statutes 34-502, 13-3506.01, and 13-3507.  CIPA prohibits public access by adults or minors to visual depictions that are obscene, child pornography, or other materials that are considered harmful to minors.  Public display of information and/or images that is inappropriate for minors, objectionable to others, or unlawful is not allowed and, as stated in Arizona Revised Statutes 13-3501, 13-3502, 13-3506.01 and 13-3507, could result in being charged with a felony.

If you are an adult and have a need for filtering to be disabled, such as for bona fide research or other lawful purposes, you may request this from the Library/Lab attendant.  Minors (under age 18, according to Arizona law) must have an “Internet Use Agreement for Minors” form signed by a parent or guardian and on file at the Library.

Arizona Revised Statute 13-2316 makes it unlawful for anyone to damage, destroy or alter computer software or hardware belonging to or accessible from the Library.

The Show Low Public Library reserves the right to ask any person using Library computers to discontinue the display of information and/or images that are considered in violation of Library policies.  Any violation of or refusal to comply with these policies may result in suspension or permanent loss of the privilege to use the computers at the Show Low Public Library.
