The Show Low Police
Department Senior Patrol
Program is a volunteer
service who gives numerous hours not only to the Show Low Police
Department but to the Community of Show Low as well. The Senior
Patrol are a vital part of
Community Policing, providing extra eyes and ears for the
operations Division.
Currently Senior Patrol has
26 officers on staff. These Senior Patrol members gave
a total of 7,615 hours in 2009, 1,198 more hours than in 2008. Last
year, 175 tickets were written by a Senior Patrol Officer for handicap
and fire lane parking violations. This Program works strictly off
donations. Donations
pay for all uniforms, cars and equipment.
In addition to the above:
-
The Seniors regularly
patrol Show Low neighborhoods, parks and business areas.
-
Senior Patrol's Property Watch
Program offers added security and peace of mind for vacationing Show
Low homeowners.
-
Senior Patrol members act as couriers for the
Police Department,
as well as the Courts and City Hall.
-
The Seniors pick up and deliver
police cars for repair and maintenance.
-
Serve as a liaison with
the retirement community.
