The Rules:
- Register before December 20th.
- To participate, participants must be employees or immediate family
members (18 years or older) and must be considered over-weight, meaning
they have a BMI of 25% or over. You do not have to be a Wellness Works
member to participate.
- Participants agree that by registering for the contest that she/he
will consult with a health care provider before making any changes to
lifestyle and or diet and exercise. The City is not responsible for the
health of any participant.
- Weigh-ins will be held every second Friday at 12 noon at the Aquatic
Center
- Each participant must weigh in on January 5, 2009, @ NOON at the
Aquatic Center
- Each participant must pay a $25.00 entry fee no later than NOON on
Jan 5, 2009
- Participants should be in similar attire for each weigh-in to ensure
accuracy
- Contestants gaining weight from their previous weigh-in will
contribute $1.00 per pound they are over
- The Bi-weekly participant with the highest percentage of weight loss
from the previous weigh in will be featured as 'This Week's Biggest Loser'
on the website.
- The male and female* with the highest percentage of weight loss will
split the total prize money
- Missing 2 weigh ins in a row, without a
reasonable excuse, may disqualify you from the contest (no refund). It's
not fair to others who are keeping their stats updated, especially once
the contest is getting down to the wire.
- Contestants can workout individually or in teams
- Exercise and diet programs are up to each individual and/or their
team.
- No weight loss surgery during the 4 month challenge.
- Weigh-ins will be semi-private, only the total amount of weight lost
will be shared. The final results will include the total percent lost, as
well as the total pounds lost.
- Participation is voluntary and the City is not responsible for any
individual’s results or illness/injury as a result of participation in the
contest. Consult with a healthcare provider before enrolling in the
contest and before making any changes to your lifestyle or diet & exercise
program.
If a question or
issue is not specified in these rules, the Wellness Committee reserves the
right to make appropriate judgment calls based on the situation.
*If there are equal numbers
of male and female participants, if not, there will be an overall winner and
a runner up.
