SHOW LOW PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING OF TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2009
Pursuant to A.R.S. 38-431.02, notice is hereby given to the
Show Low Planning & Zoning Commission and to the
general public that a meeting,
which shall be open to the public, will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2009, at
7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 180 N. 9th St, Show Low,
Navajo County, Arizona. The agenda for
this meeting will be as follows:
1. Call to Order.
Chairman Leech called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
2. Roll Call.
3. Invocation (by volunteer).
4. Pledge of Allegiance (by volunteer).
5. Public Hearings.

Public Hearing and
Consideration of a Zone Change request submitted by Freeport-McMoRan
Corporation to rezone properties located around Show Low Lake, more
particularly described as
Arizona Parcel Numbers 212-01-004B, 212-02-004,
212-02-005, 212-11-001, 212-11-092, 212-11-099C, and 212-11-101, from GA-5
(General Agricultural, five acres) and AR-43 (Agricultural-Residential,
forty-three thousand square feet) to PUD (Planned Unit Development).
(Telford Chapman) Commissioner Saner
moved to approve a zone change application 605-03-096 submitted by
Freeport-McMoRan Corporation to rezone Arizona Parcel Numbers 212-02-004 and
212-02-005 from GA-5 (General Agricultural, five acres), Arizona Parcel
Numbers 212-02-004B, 212-11-001, 212-11-101, 212-11-092, and 212-11-099C
from AR-43 (Agricultural-Residential, forty-three thousand square feet) to
PUD (Planned Unit Development), with staff recommendations, including the
addition of the low pressure sewer system text from their project narrative,
and the stipulation made by the owner’s representative to notify the public
again when the next step of the development process will come before the
commission; seconded by Commissioner Hatch; by a vote of 3-4 the motion was
not approved.
Vice Chairman Isaacs moved to approve a zone change
application 605-03-096 submitted by Freeport-McMoRan Corporation to rezone
Arizona Parcel Numbers 212-02-004 and 212-02-005 from GA-5 (General
Agricultural, five acres), Arizona Parcel Numbers 212-02-004B, 212-11-001,
212-11-101, 212-11-092, and 212-11-099C from AR-43
(Agricultural-Residential, forty-three thousand square feet) to PUD (Planned
Unit Development), with staff recommendations, including the addition of the
low pressure sewer system text from their project narrative, and the
stipulation made by the owner’s representative to notify the public again
when the next step of the development process will come before the
commission, and including a sincere caution to the city council that our
citizens are not in agreement with certain aspects of the project; seconded
by Commissioner Hatch; by a vote of 5-2 the motion was approved. |

Any citizen desiring to speak on a matter that
is NOT scheduled on this agenda may do so at this time. Speakers shall identify
themselves on the record and may be limited to three minutes per person.
Comments shall be addressed to the Planning and Zoning Commission as a whole,
and not to any individual member. Issues raised shall be limited to those within
the jurisdiction of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Pursuant to the Arizona
Open Meeting Law, the Commission cannot discuss or act on items presented at
this time; however, at the conclusion of the call to the public, individual
members may (1) respond to criticism made by those who have spoken, (2) ask
staff to review a matter, or (3) ask that a matter be put on a future agenda for
discussion.
