SHOW LOW PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Regular Meeting – Thursday, July 16, 2009

 PURSUANT to A.R.S. Section 38-431.02, notice is hereby given to the Show Low Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and to the general public, that a Regular Meeting of the Show Low Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room, 550 North 9th Place, Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona. 

1.         Call to Order.

Jason Mangum called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

 2.         Roll Call.

             PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:  Jimmy Jayne, Ken
             VanWinkle, Steve Hair, David Fawcett, and Sally Williams.

 PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS ABSENT:  None.

 STAFF PRESENT:  Jason Mangum, Parks and Recreation Director; Joel Weeks, Deputy City Manager/Community Services Director; Stefan Wehnau, Recreation Supervisor; Rebecca Ricedorff, Recreation Coordinator; Terri Wade, Recreation Coordinator; Mikey Mariscal, Parks Maintenance Supervisor; and Becca Seeley, Recreation Coordinator.

 GUESTS:  None. 

3.         Committee Member Introduction.

5.         Assign Two-year and Four-year Terms.

             As directed by the Show Low City Council on June 16, 2009, four of the five members of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee were to play a card game to determine which one would receive a two-year term.  Committee member Sally Williams had already been appointed by the Council to a two-year term.  Of the remaining four members – David Fawcett, Steve Hair, Jimmy Jayne, and Ken VanWinkle – the one who drew the deuce of clubs from the deck would receive a two-year term, while the other three would serve four-year terms.

             The card game was held and David Fawcett drew the deuce of clubs, and thus won a two-year term.  The remaining three members, Steve Hair, Jimmy Jayne, and Ken VanWinkle, will serve four-year terms.

7.         Elect Committee Officers.

            MR. VANWINKLE MOVED TO NOMINATE STEVE HAIR AS COMMITTEE CHAIR; SECONDED
            BY MR. FAWCETT; MOTION FAILED BY A VOTE OF 3 TO 2, WITH KEN VAN WINKLE AND
            DAVID FAWCETT VOTING IN FAVOR AND STEVE HAIR, JIMMY JAYNE, AND SALLY
            WILLIAMS VOTING AGAINST THE MOTION.

MR. HAIR MOVED TO NOMINATE KEN VANWINKLE AS COMMITTEE CHAIR; SECONDED BY MS. WILLIAMS; MOTION PASSED 3 TO 2, WITH KEN VAN WINKLE AND DAVID FAWCETT CASTING THE DISSENTING VOTES.

MR. JAYNE MOVED TO NOMINATE STEVE HAIR AS COMMITTEE VICE CHAIR; SECONDED BY MS. WILLIAMS; MOTION PASSED VIA UNANIMOUS CONSENT.
